Showcase 2024: Celebrating our portfolio’s success
We recently hosted our inaugural Portfolio Showcase, an invite-only event with a focus on celebrating the successes of our portfolio companies and strengthening our connections with our wider network of angels, VCs, and trusted advisors.
The showcase featured pitches from four exceptional portfolio companies: Uhubs, MarinaTex, Siloton, and Blue Skies Space. These ventures, spanning sectors like SaaS, sustainable materials, and healthcare, showcased their milestones to an audience that included representatives from leading VCs such as Passion VC, Future Planet Capital, Playfair, Guinness Ventures, and Cornerstone VC.
The event was a celebration of our progress in 2024:
Over £1.1m invested this year, totalling £2.4m across 27 startups.
46% of investments backing female-led founding teams.
80% growth of our investor membership in the last 12 months
Recognised as ‘Most Active Investor Investor’ in our region and one of the top Angel Groups in the UK at the UK Business Angel Association Awards
We also heard from our new trusted legal partners at Harbottle & Lewis. With over 60 years of experience, they bring invaluable expertise to support startups and venture capitalists, having advised on high-profile deals like the £5m investment into Fiat Republic and Brighton-based Brandwatch’s funding milestones.
Our portfolio companies showcased the innovation we champion:
Uhubs: A SaaS platform empowering revenue leaders to leverage data for building high-performing teams.
MarinaTex: Creators of sustainable plastics made from seaweed and seafood waste.
Siloton: Developers of remote monitoring technology for preventing sight loss in patients with eye diseases.
Blue Skies Space: Enabling broader access to space science data for commercial and research purposes.
This event also marked the start of an exciting new chapter, with the launch of our Surrey investor group and new developments in our post-investment portfolio support package. We look forward to continuing to expand our investor network and supporting more founders in our region and beyond.
