Consumer rights startup ConsumerVoice wins Brighton Startup Roadshow
Consumer Voice, an innovative consumer-rights platform, has been named the winner of the startup pitch competition at the Brighton Startup Roadshow. The event, part of the Startup Roadshow 2024 series, brought together founders, investors, and key players from the Sussex startup ecosystem.
Organised by South East Angels, the Startup Roadshow aims to highlight local talent and foster growth in the startup communities across the South East. The series includes events in Brighton, Southampton, Tunbridge Wells, Guildford, and London, providing entrepreneurs with valuable opportunities to connect with investors, gain exposure, and receive constructive feedback.
The Brighton event featured a competitive pitch session where four promising early-stage startups from various industries presented their ventures. ConsumerVoice stood out among the participants, impressing the judges with their pitch and team credibility.
Consumer Voice is a digital platform and community providing unbiased information directly to consumers about group legal claims happening in the UK. It works with lawyers and consumers, discovering and qualifying affected individuals, then matching them with group claims to access compensation.
Co-founded in early 2023 by Alex Neill and Nikki Stopford, both with previous experience at Which? - the Consumer Voice team is on a mission to make access to justice easy for consumers. The business model works by providing consumer-friendly communications and engagement services to law firms to help raise awareness of claims. In some cases, ConsumerVoice takes a fee from legal firms when someone from the community joins a claim.
Kristina Pereckaite (South East Angels) says: The startup roadshow event series is all about showcasing early-stage founders with promising, scalable businesses. Consumer Voice delivered a compelling pitch that communicated their value proposition, and more importantly, showcased the credibility of their team.
Nikki for ConsumerVoice said: ‘Rule-breaking businesses could owe an eye-watering amount of money to UK consumers. We’re the first and only digital platform in the UK dedicated to promoting all group legal claims. We know awareness of these claims is low so we’re on a mission to help millions of people get back what they’re owed. So we’re thrilled to win this South East Angels startup pitch competition – and to get the benefit of the incredible advice from the panel of investor judges. Not a single dragon among them!’
